Discover 4 Annual Wisconsin Apple Festivals to See This Fall!

Wisconsin Apple Festivals are a true inspiration to celebrate fall; the best way to celebrate it is to attend a small-town festival!

The state’s apple festivals offer a delightful blend of tradition, community, fun, and, of course, flavorful apples.

These fall festivals happen each year with each having a different spin on their festivals.

Apple Orchard

Wisconsin & Apples

Wisconsin is known for its diverse apple orchards, yielding a variety of apple breeds.

From Honeycrisp to Granny Smith, these festivals showcase an array of apples, allowing attendees to sample and savor the many flavors.

Wisconsin’s apple festivals also serve as a platform to appreciate local artisans and their crafts.

Visitors can explore booths showcasing handmade goods, from intricate woodwork to stunning pottery, adding an artistic flair to the festivities.

Moreover, these celebrations aren’t just about apples; they showcase the spirit of community.

Residents, farmers, and visitors meet, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared enjoyment.

Through these festivals, a sense of pride in local agriculture and heritage is instilled, strengthening the bond among attendees and the region.

Apple Tree

For many, the highlight of these festivals is the chance to take home bags brimming with freshly picked apples.

Whether visitors aim to bake pies, make applesauce, or simply enjoy them as a healthy snack, the festivals offer ample opportunities to stock up on this fall favorite.

Wisconsin Apple Festivals

Bayfield Apple Festival

Town: Bayfield, Wisconsin | Population: 584 | Located: Northern Wisconsin

One of my favorite things to see is a small town come alive and be the place to go for an annual event.

Bayfield, WI which is nestled along the shores of Lake Superior, has a three-day event, that is put on by Bayfield Chamber, that brings in over 60,000 people each year.

That’s amazing!

When fall sets in everyone starts thinking about when it will be Bayfield Apple Festival time!

It’s no wonder that, according to Wisconsin Trails Magazine, the Bayfield Apple Festival is one of “Wisconsin’s Best Festivals!”

This festival features live music daily at the Memorial Park Gazebo & Big Top Chautauqua, a farmers market, an apple peeling contest, a dessert contest, a best apple pie contest, craft vendors, food vendors, Saturday evening fish fry, a beer garden, the crowning of the apple queen, and Sunday morning the grand parade down historic Rittenhouse Avenue!

Another attraction is Hauser’s Superior View Farm, tour the barn and see the awesome view of Lake Superior!

You’ll have to try this farm’s hard cider!

Or take your time traveling down the brownstone trail that follows an old railway corridor and get a shoreline view of the lake!

This apple festival all began with a flat tire and the need to bring the people to the apples.

Find the story here how Jim Erickson, of Erickson Orchard helped put Bayfield on the map with the Apple Festival.

Shuttle services are also available from various parking lots.

Apples

Gays Mills Apple Festival

Town: Gays Mills, Wisconsin | Population: 455 | Located: Western Wisconsin

Every year, the last weekend in September, the town of Gays Mills comes alive with its Apple Festival!

This three day event is packed full of things to do! Including pancake and sausage breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday, run/walk, live entertainment daily, horseshoe, volleyball, & basketball tournaments, inflatables for kids, an apple fest parade, flea markets, and craft vendors.

Don’t forget to stop by this family farm, Sunrise Orchards, where you can try 21 different apples and hang out at Sunrise Park!

It’s also a perfect place to try some delicious apple treats like apple cider donuts and enjoy the fall season.

Galesville’s Apple Affair

Town: Galesville, Wisconsin | Population: 1,662 | Located: Western Wisconsin

Every first Saturday in October, Galesville celebrates fall with its Apple Festival!

Something truly unique about this apple festival is that they bake a 10-foot apple pie!

They even had to custom-make an oven to bake this pie!

During the festival, people can get a slice of this 10-foot pie until it is gone!

Think all things apple during this apple festival with local growers selling pie, apple cake, carmel apples, cider, and juice.

But that’s not all, they also have live bands all day, pancake breakfast, quilt & craft show, kid activities, petting zoo, beer & wine garden,  bingo,

Another unique event at this festival is the Apple Affair Bike Tour that, weather permitting, tours the Galesville apple orchards & etc.

This almost 29-mile bike tour has over 200 bicyclists! What a great opportunity to see what orchards look like and see the autumn beauty.

This year they have started offering self-guided orchard tours via bicycle.

Two Rivers Applefest

Town: Two Rivers, Wisconsin | Population: 11,712| Located: Eastern Wisconsin

This one-day event, the “Return of the Apple” festival is put on by the Two Rivers Rotary Club.

The Applefest is from 9 am to 3 pm with lots to do in between. Including Rotary Club pancake breakfast, craft booths, a farmers market, food booths, kids activities, bushels of different varieties of apples, and live music.

Get your sweet tooth fix with caramel apples and treats!

Wisconsin’s Apple Festivals offer a gateway to experience the magic of fall, inviting everyone to join in the festivities and celebrate the simple joy of apples.

Whether it’s the aroma of freshly baked apple pie or the laughter of families enjoying hayrides, these festivals embody the heartwarming spirit of autumn in Wisconsin.
