Eugene T. Mahoney State Park: Nature Meets Water
Town: 4 miles south of Ashland, NE | Ashland Population: 3,191
Not all state parks are the same and Eugene T. Mahoney State Park has so many things to offer a family, one of them is the awesome water park to beat that summer heat!
I highly recommend Mahoney State Park as a whole.
Our family camped out at Mahoney State Park for three nights.
This actually means I didn’t sleep for three nights because we camped in a tent and air mattresses and I don’t agree with each other.
But besides that, we had an absolute blast! One of the days at Mahoney we went to the water park. It was huge & a lot of fun!
This water park offers so many water features including a dump bucket that kids can stand under and get dumped on when it fills up, inner tubes to ride the waves on the wave pool, water-play activities for little kids, zero-entry wave pool, and so much more!
We were too sure what to expect from this Nebraska water park that seemed like it was so far from a big city. But it did not disappoint!
If you plan to go, take a few days and stay at Mahoney State Park! There is so much to do and fun to be had!
Twin Rivers Water Park
Town: Plattsburg | Population: 6,620
20 miles south of Omaha you’ll find the next water park. This water park is designed to have two different pools.
One is zero depth to 3 feet and has fountains with a spray area for younger children to play in.
The second is a 4 to 6 foot pool with a deeper pool area that is 12 feet deep for the diving area.
A popular attraction of this water park is the water slide that swirls along with the speed slide that propels you into the 12 foot near the diving board.
This also has plenty of picnic table area and grass areas to lay out and hang out while taking a break from the pool.
I enjoy seeing a swimming pool that isn’t all concrete!
